Nona Hatcher

September 19, 1930 — April 27, 2020

GREENVILLE, TX – Nona Faye (Davis) Hatcher, 89, passed on from this life to eternity early on
April 27, 2020.

Nona Faye Davis was born in Terral, Oklahoma on September 19, 1930…the last of three
children to Willis J. Davis and Bess Birdwell Davis. Her beloved older sister was Marcella
(Marcie) Davis Bensko, who was married to Arthur Bensko, and older brother Willis “Junior”
Davis. Her parents, siblings, and beloved brother-in-law all preceded her in death.

She married the love of her life, Robert M. “Bob” Hatcher on her birthday in 1947, and they
enjoyed nearly 48 years of marital bliss together – until his passing in May, 1995.

Nona was a devoted mother, and also the quintessential corporate wife – as Bob Hatcher
was a senior executive for many years first with North American Aviation, and then finally
General Dynamics. They retired to Greenville following his career – and despite living a few
years down near Tyler and up in Hot Springs, AR, they always came back to their adopted
home of Greenville.

The corporate life started them in Fort Worth, then on to San Diego, the suburbs of New
York City, and finally back to Texas – in Fort Worth and finally Greenville. It was quite an
adventure for the entire family, and Nona enjoyed almost every moment of it. She was as
comfortable making chicken and dumplings for the family as she was hosting a formal
dinner party for 50 guests on one day’s notice. Above all, she loved being Mrs. Robert
Hatcher – truly married to her soul mate. So much so that after Bob passed in 1995, and
after never having worked outside the home a day in her life – became a regular volunteer
at the Greenville hospital, helping others 3 days per week for almost 15 years after his
death. Since Bob died at that hospital, she said it gave her comfort to be there – was in
some small way paying tribute to his memory by working there.

Their marriage produced three children. Bobbie Gail Hatcher born in 1953, now deceased
of Harrisonburg, VA, Robert Michael “Mike” Hatcher born in 1958, who along with his wife
Taylor and their daughter Kiland reside in Alexandria, VA, and Patrick Neal Hatcher born in
1961, also deceased of Ashburn, VA.

Nona leaves behind a slew of grandchildren, great grandchildren, as well as one great,
great grandson. Robert Michael Hatcher, Jr. with great grandsons Trey and Evan of
Rockwall, Brooke Sivley Hatcher Morrison and her husband Mark with great grandson
Brady and great granddaughter Avery all of New York, NY, Caitlin Hatcher Truhn and her
husband Chad, with great granddaughters Leia and Olivia of Alexandria, VA, April Hatcher
of Fort Worth, Adam Hatcher of The Colony, and lastly Nicole Powell of Atlanta, GA.

Nona also leaves behind beloved nieces Deborah, Rochelle, Roberta, and Annette, along
with nephews Bruce and Brian. The last of the nieces, Barbara, preceded her in death…and
all were from the Bensko side of the family.

Above all, our family remembers with gratitude and appreciation the love and care given to
her by the extended family of Briarcliff Health Center in Greenville – Donna, Lauren,
Brandon, Dee, Frances, Dr. Rick and literally scores of others too numerous to mention.

In lieu of flowers, we request donations for the staff fund of Briar Cliff at 4400 Walnut St,
Greenville, TX 75401.
