Raul “Roy” Torres, 64, entered eternal life on May 22, 2026. He concluded his courageous journey with cancer, passing peacefully at home in Caddo Mills with his family by his side.
Born on September 13, 1961, during Hurricane Carla, in Navasota, Texas to Mike Torres Sr. and Nellie D. Torres. He was the youngest of 10 children. He was a proud lifelong Houstonian who experienced his city to the fullest, especially the cuisine. He loved his grandchildren more than anything and moved to Greenville/Caddo Mills to enjoy every possible moment with them.
Roy graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Houston, Texas and built a fulfilling career as a Machinist Supervisor/Process Engineer. He was an extremely talented athlete who excelled in baseball and basketball. He shared his talents serving as a Little League Baseball Coach who took his teams to district and state finals. He also joyously shared his knowledge, talents and competitive spirit with his nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces and most especially his grandson Landon with Ava actively joining in.
He loved all genres of music and was a talented vocalist. He loved karaoke and was a sought-out DJ for many joyous events. He was a frequent Cruiser and took as many cruises as he could arrange to take. Roy had a “Servant’s Heart”. He had a genuine desire to help anyone in need and without hesitation.
Throughout his battle with cancer, Roy displayed strength, courage, resilience and unwavering faith. He prayed on every medical decision, always desiring quality of life over quantity. His original prognosis was a life expectancy of four to six months, but our Lord granted his heart’s desire to be able to play with his grandchildren and generously gave him three years. Roy experienced other answered prayers and miracles that are a testament to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his loving children, Jessica and Kodie Loera; Jaclyn Torres; his grandchildren whom he adored; Landon and Ava Loera. He is also survived by his brothers; Mike (Gloria) Torres, Tony (Sylvia) Torres; sisters; Alice (Irma) Torres, Tina Richey, Beatrice (Ray) Flores; nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Mike & Nellie Torres, brothers; Lupe Valenzuela, John Torres, Richard Torres, sister; Olivia Torres; and many other loved ones to reunite with.
Roy will be deeply missed. As we mourn his loss, we celebrate and give thanks for his loving heart, generous spirit and love of life and neighbor.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026 at 11:30am at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, 11507 Huffmeister Rd, Houston, TX 77065.
