R. Weatherly, Jr.
May 1, 1927 — March 8, 2016
R. G. Weatherly passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Park Haven Nursing and Rehab in Greenville. Funeral service will be 2:00pm Friday, March 11, at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Vaughn officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Lynch Cemetery in East Tawakoni. Visitation will be from 12:00pm until time of service.
R.G. was born May 1, 1927in Royse City, Texas to Richard Gay Weatherly, Sr. and Ida Evelyn Wheeless Weatherly. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. Shortly before being discharged from the Army he met and married Kathrine Odell Moss January 23, 1947 in Lone Oak. He worked for many years at Esco Manufacturing in Greenville and was a member of Dixon Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son Johnny Weatherly and wife Leann of Garland; daughter Elaine Dillon and husband David of Weiland; grandchildren Lori Weatherly of Melissa, Angela Morris and husband Kemmey of Roswell; Kevin Weatherly and wife Laura of Dallas, Zach Middleton of Dallas, Amanda Johnson of Quinlan; great grandchildren Kerry Pewitt, Chelsea Morris, Rowdy Johnson, Noah Morris, Richard Morris, and Haleigh Johnson; brothers Dan Weatherly and wife Wilma Jean of Greenville, and Joe Weatherly and wife Peggy of Miller Grove; sister Shirley Yarbro. R.G. was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 55 years Katherine Weatherly; brother Donald "Bud" Weatherly.
