Philip Dwayne Bovis Jr., age 53, passed away on July 20, 2026, in Leonard, Texas. Born on June 18, 1973, in Dallas, Texas, Philip was the beloved son of Philip Sr. and Karen Bovis.

A proud graduate of H. Grady Spruce High School in Dallas, Philip dedicated over two decades of his professional life to the City of Dallas. For 22 years, he served with distinction and was most recently the Interim Electrical Manager for the Department of Transportation & Public Works. His commitment to his work and his community left a lasting impact on those who worked alongside him.Philip cherished his family deeply. He is survived by his devoted wife, Brooke Bovis; his children, Kaeli Bovis, Chloe Bovis, and Philip Bovis III; and his five grandchildren- Shadow, Hudson, Serena, Sway and Parker, who brought immense joy to his life. He is also lovingly remembered by his parents, Philip Sr. and Karen Bovis; his sisters, Cassie Kenney (Bovis) and Kimberly Cedeno; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and extended family members.Outside of work and family life, Philip had a passion for gaming and was a long-time enthusiast of computer-based games. An avid fisher with his father over most of his life. He found joy in grilling and smoking meats—especially perfecting brisket—and was known for making great BBQ that brought people together. An avid fan of history movies and documentaries, he enjoyed engaging in long conversations and debates about any subject he could bend your ear on. His playful spirit shone through in moments spent acting goofy with family and friends. He’d recently purchased a Harley Davidson and while he didn’t get to ride as much as he wanted, he did get to enjoy the few rides he made. Memories from his children- late night fishing trips, soccer games, Starbucks trips, and garage talks- When your mind tells you that you can't, your heart can remind you that you can. Philip's memory will be cherished by all who knew him. His warmth, humor, dedication to his loved ones, and zest for life will remain an enduring legacy. May his memory bring comfort to those who mourn his loss.We will be having a private Celebration of Life with family members.
