Melodie Argyle, 74, Beloved Artist, Lifelong Learner, and Cherished Mother

Melodie Argyle, born September 12, 1951, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026, at the age of 74.

Melodie lived a life full of creativity, curiosity, and more compliments than anyone could keep track of—she had a special gift for making everyone around her feel like a superstar. A truly artistic and imaginative soul, she possessed an unending love of learning and eagerly pursued classes in photography and web design at the local college, always honing her skills with dedication and joy.

Guided in part by her sister, Kelly, a natural in the arts, Melodie developed a remarkable talent for photography. Her work captured the beauty of the world through a unique and thoughtful lens. She photographed many world champion Paint and Quarter Horses, wildlife, flowers, and breathtaking landscapes. Among her proudest achievements was raising Glacier, an American Paint Horse stallion who went on to become a world champion—a horse she often joked “had more fans than I did.”

Melodie’s love for God’s creations extended to all animals, with a special adoration for Pembroke Welsh Corgis. She could often be found tending her garden, carefully cultivating her beloved irises, or chasing the perfect photograph—sometimes waiting patiently for just the right moment, sometimes laughing at the ones that got away.

A California girl at heart, Melodie loved the sun, the ocean, and traveling. She especially cherished the rugged beauty of Brookings, Oregon, where she found peace and inspiration in nature.

Melodie praised her loved ones endlessly and made it a point to lift up those around her with encouragement and kindness. She was immensely proud of her children, who have grown to be happily married and successful. Above all, she loved the Lord and His plan of salvation, living her life with faith, gratitude, humor, and a heart full of love.

Her life was truly a masterpiece of art, laughter, and devotion. She could brighten a room with her smile, a garden with her flowers, and any conversation with her gentle humor and warmth. Her creativity and spirit touched all who knew her, leaving a lasting legacy of inspiration and joy.

In honor of Melodie’s life, friends and family are encouraged to laugh often, compliment freely, take pictures of beautiful things, spend time in nature, hug a dog (especially a Corgi), and maybe, just maybe, grow an iris or two in her memory.

Melodie is survived by her husband, Viron Argyle; her sister, Lark and husband Danny; her son, Lehi Herrin and wife Wasanaa; her son, Sterling Argyle and wife Angel; her daughter, Jennifer and husband Cody; and her daughter, Juliet and husband Lanny. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Alexander Kittleson, Dillon & Yvette Whitlock, Samuel & Finley Whitlock, Isabella Whitlock, Abigail Whitlock, Michael, Nathan & Sarah, Jeffrey, Dustin, Kaleb, Maekala Herrin, and Elias Herrin; and her great-grandchildren: Arya Kittleson, Aidan Whitlock, Levi Whitlock, Ezra Whitlock, Payton, Harleigh, Wyatt, Mikayla, Hagen, River and Riley. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews whom she adored.
