Mary Ellen Trapp, born May 31, 1944, peacefully passed away on April 27, 2026. She was a devoted homemaker and mother, who found great joy in her family and the simple pleasures of life.
Mary Ellen graduated from high school in Fort Towson, Oklahoma in 1962. From a very young age, she showed a talent for drawing, especially horses, which she drew beautifully. Her love of creativity blossomed into a lifelong passion for sewing. She made countless quilts treasured by her family, and sewed clothes for her three daughters to wear to school. As her daughters grew older and moved out, Mary Ellen extended her caring nature by sewing for friends and members of her church, creating dresses, doll clothes, and other special projects.
Her happiest moments were spent with her grandchildren. She delighted in playing with them and sewing costumes like Indiana Jones and Star Wars Jedi robes and cloaks. One memorable incident was when she broke her toe while playing chase with Andrew when he was about four years old.
Mary Ellen worked for many years at TG&Y and Walmart, making many friends and lasting memories along the way. She loved serving her church family and was a generous helper in the nursery and preparing meals for Wednesday night church gatherings. Her cooking was admired, and she loved offering her help to others whenever she could.
She loved to embroider hand towels and other projects for those she cared about, showing her affection through her handiwork. Mary Ellen's warmth and laughter were infectious, especially when she was with her younger sister Jo Ann. They shared many good times and laughter throughout their lives.
Mary Ellen deeply loved her family and is lovingly remembered by her husband of 64 years, W. D. Trapp; her daughters and their husbands, Toni Lynn and Danny Hamilton, Kim and Andy Coffman, and Leora and Alan Bouyssou; her grandchildren, Carrie Waits, Andrew Coffman and his wife Ashley, Stephen Hamilton and his wife Audrey, and Sarah Buchanan and her husband Hayden; and her great-grandchildren, Jensen Waits, Phoebe Hamilton, and Maple Hamilton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Estelle Smith, and her sister, Gwendolyn Smith.
