Martha Phillips

Martha Phillips, age 90, of Dallas, formerly of Greenville, passed away in the evening hours of Sunday, June 6, 2010 at the Kindred Hospital in Dallas. Ms. Phillips was born on May 7, 1920 in Monday, Texas to David Granville and Ida Victoria Johnson Wilcoxson, they preceded her in death. She was married to Montie Philips who preceded her in death in 1989. Shortly after his passing she moved to the Deaf Action Center Apartments in Dallas where she was active in the senior programs and she served as the secretary and treasurer of the senior citizens group. She was also involved in the Silent Friends Chapel Deaf Choir of the First Baptist Church of Dallas in the 1980s. She is survived by one daughter, Paula OBrian, and husband Roy, of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Celia Mason, and husband Ray, of Post, Sheila Higgens, and husband Daniel, of Dimmiett, TX, Edward OBrian, and wife, Brandee, of Lubbock ; and nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was also preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters. Services for Ms. Phillips will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Terry Sanders and Bob Parrish officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Park Cemetery.
