Mahlon "Slick" Elder Allen

June 16, 1936 — June 6, 2026

Mahlon “Slick” Elder Allen, born June 16, 1936, in Minter, Texas, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 6, 2026, at the age of 89.

Mahlon married the love of his life, Velera Christine Luttrell Allen, on March 12, 1955. Together they shared 71 wonderful years of marriage, building a legacy of faith, love, hard work, and devotion to family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. B. F. Allen and Annie House Allen; his 18 brothers and sisters; his sons, Ronnie Lee Allen and Ricky Wayne Allen; and his grandsons, Michael “Mook” Allen and Daniel Wayne Allen.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Velera Christine Allen; his daughter, Debbie Webber and her husband, Dave; his son, Randy Allen and his wife, Stephanie; his grandchildren, Charlie Morgan, Kenny Morgan (Jennifer), Ricky Allen (Jennifer), Johnny Allen, Randy Allen Jr. (Krystal), Nick Allen (Shea), Krissy Allen, Tyler Allen (Aubery), Brooke Lawson, Ashley Miller (Josh), and Lauren Auker (Justin); his great-grandchildren, Sean Justice (Lily), Matt Morgan (Yanelli), Emily Morgan, Austin Morgan, Kaiden Morgan, Christian Morgan, Briar Allen (Caitlin), May Allen, Walker Allen, Colt Lyday, Huxlee Allen, Natalee Allen, Maylin Allen, Tate Allen, Stetson Allen, Caleb Lawson, Payton Lawson, Ella Miller, Logan Miller, and Lily Auker; his brother, Raymond “Rod” Allen and his wife, JoAnn; along with many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Mahlon worked as a truck driver for Titche’s before working at their downtown Dallas store. He later became an electrician, a trade he loved and excelled in. He took great pride in mentoring others, including his three sons and three grandsons, passing along not only his skills but also his strong work ethic and commitment to doing things right.

Mahlon enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing basketball, playing dominoes and cheering on his beloved Texas Longhorns. Yet, above all else, he loved his family. Whether cooking meals, gathering loved ones around the table, sharing stories, or caring faithfully for his wife, Mahlon found his greatest joy in serving those he loved.

Those who knew him will remember his hardworking spirit, his love for family, and his unwavering devotion to the people God placed in his life. While his family grieves his absence, they rejoice in the assurance that he is now in the presence of his Savior, hearing the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered until the day his family is reunited with him in the presence of the Lord.
