Lora Ann Cabrera-Hood, age 59, passed away on May 21, 2026. Born on August 11, 1966, in Dallas, Texas, Lora was a proud graduate of Skyline High School, Class of 1984. She went on to build a successful career as an accountant, earning the respect of colleagues and friends alike through her dedication and strong work ethic.

Lora was truly one of a kind — quirky, genuine, and unforgettable to everyone fortunate enough to know her. She had a way of leaving an impression wherever she went, whether through her warm personality, quick wit, or joyful spirit. She loved music, especially singing along to a good song, and she had a natural gift for making friends everywhere she went.

Her greatest joy in life was the time she spent with family and friends. She loved adventures big and small, from camping trips and travel to spontaneous road trips filled with laughter and memories. Lora also enjoyed shopping for herself and those she loved, staying connected with family and friends, and regularly corresponding with the many people who meant so much to her.

She was also passionate about advocating for women and believed strongly in equality, independence, and encouraging others to find their voice. Lora admired strong women, supported those around her wholeheartedly, and lived with a confidence and authenticity that inspired many who knew her.

Among her proudest accomplishments were her nearly 40 years of marriage to her beloved husband, Chris Hood, and the family they built together. She cherished being a mother and grandmother above all else.

Lora is survived by her loving husband, Chris Hood; stepson, Chris Hood Jr. and wife Elizabeth Hood; daughters, Ashlee Hood and Stacy Hyde and husband Connor Hyde; granddaughters, Alexis Edwards and husband Keith Edwards, and Evelyn Hyde; grandsons, Chris Hood III and wife Caroline Hood, and Liam McKinnon; along with many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Luciano Cabrera; her mother, Margaret Cabrera; and her brother, Johnny Cabrera.

Lora’s laughter, kindness, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed, but the memories she created with those she loved will live on forever.
