Larry Dan Barr was born on September 28, 1946 and passed away on November 18, 2025. He had a long and fulfilling career, beginning at General Cable in Bonham. After many years, Larry moved on to L3 in Greenville, where he dedicated 35 years of his life before retiring.
Larry graduated from Leonard High School in 1965. He took pride in his work, particularly in being able to contribute to projects involving different types of airplanes for the government and military, including the notable Air Force One.
Larry was known for his unique personality. If you asked twenty people about him, you would likely receive twenty different answers, reflecting the diverse ways he touched those around him.
An avid lover of the outdoors, Larry especially enjoyed fishing and gardening. He maintained a large vegetable garden, where he spent countless hours nurturing his plants and enjoying nature. Larry relished every moment spent with his grandkids, eager to pass down his love for gardening and fishing to them. He also had a passion for coin collecting and often attended coin shows. He delighted in sifting through numerous coins in search of rare finds. In his later years, he found joy in spending time with his beloved Boston Terriers, Lady and Katy.
Larry leaves behind his brother Sam Barr, sister-in-law Ruth Ann Barr, sister Mary Ann Lumpkins, brother-in-law Craig Lumpkins, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his children: Loren Barr and his wife Grace, Lara Magoun and her husband Ron, and Aaron Barr, as well as grandchildren Kris Barr, Kaitlin Taft and her husband Greg, Liam Magoun, Micah Barr, and Cale Barr. His legacy continues with great grandchildren Hazel Barr, Waylon Taft, and Wrenlee Taft.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Kathleen Barr, and his brother Jimmy Barr.
A graveside service will be held at a later date to honor and celebrate the life of Larry Barr.
