Joy Patterson

Joy Patterson, 77, of Greenville passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2015 in Greenville. Funeral service will be 2:00pm Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the Park Street Baptist Church in Greenville. Family visitation will be 6:00pm until 8:00pm Friday, January 23, 2015 at Park Street Baptist Church. Burial will be held 9:15am Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery under the direction of Peters Funeral Home in Greenville. Joy was born in Kilgore, Texas on August 10, 1937 to Jesse Greer and Maudie Garren Greer. She grew up in Kilgore and graduated from Kilgore High School. Joy worked for Greenville Independent School District for 25 years as an aide and a secretary to the Superintendent. In addition to her professional life Joy was a devoted wife to her loving husband Pat Patterson whom she married April 20, 1957 in Kilgore, a loving mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren. Joy is survived by her husband Pat Patterson; daughter Carol Lynn Clark and husband Robert; sons Bryan Patterson and wife Cindy and Terry Patterson and wife Kelly; grandchildren Blake Clark, Heather Nicholson, Holly Waldrop, TJ Patterson and Chase Patterson; sisters Gladys Kivell and Gloria Thomas; half sister Linda Pirtle and husband Caleb; numerous nieces and nephews. Joy is preceded in death by her mother Maudie Greer; father Jesse Greer; step mother Forrest Betty Greer; six brothers Austin Charles Greer, James Arvin Greer, Earnest Earl Greer, Howard Bernard Greer, jack Edward Greer and Glenn Jesse Greer. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial be made to the National Parkinson Foundation of to the American Heart Association.
