John was born on June 8,1970 to J.D and Mary Jane James in Dallas, TX. John grew up in Richardson, TX. He loved hunting, fishing, and playing golf. He was baptized on July 20,1980 at Richardson Heights Baptist church along with his brother Will.  In 1985 John moved to Rockwall where he was on the high school golf team. He graduated from Rockwall High School in 1988.

Following graduation, John joined the US Army and completed basic training at Fort Bliss. He was proud to be a Team Chief and member of the Military Honor Guard. After leaving the Army, John attended Texas Tech before transferring to the University of North Texas where he graduated with a degree in Business Management. John excelled at account management and sales and was quick to turn coworkers into golfing buddies.

In 2004, John met Amy in Addison, TX.  John and Amy went on to have 2 children, Grant and Phoebe.  John loved spending time with his family and watching movies. He loved the beach and was always the first one ready to take the kids crab hunting after dark. He loved all things Christmas and his parent’s home cooking.

He is survived by his parents, J.D. and Mary Jane James; his wife, Amy James; son, Grant James; daughter, Phoebe James; sister Rebecca Ann Pope, brother and wife, William and Breanna James; and many nephews and nieces.
