John Tom Forbes

John Tom Forbes, 80, of Greenville, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on May 27, 2026.

John was born on July 28, 1945, in Canton, Texas, to Isaac Jack and Bernice Forbes. After graduating from Rains High School in Emory, Texas, he went on to build a successful career in the air conditioning industry. He owned and operated Forbes Heating and Air Conditioning for 46 years, proudly serving Greenville and the surrounding counties.

On January 14, 1981, John married Shirley Cranmore, and together they shared 45 wonderful years of marriage.

John was known for his love of the Lord and his servant’s heart. He faithfully shared his faith through witnessing, singing, and helping wherever he was needed. He was a cherished member of Lone Oak Assembly of God.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley Forbes; his daughters, Melissa Forbes of Greenville, Michelle Bailey and husband Aaron of Greenville, and Kim Maxey of Greenville; his brothers, Frank Forbes and wife Kathy of New York, and James Forbes and wife Laura of Lone Oak; and his sister, Emma Forbes of Greenville. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Bernice Forbes; his brothers, Billy and Timothy Forbes; and his sisters, Minnie O’Quinn and Molly Rhodes.

John was truly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
