Jesse “Ray” Welk, Jr., 75, passed from this world to his eternal home on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at Legend Healthcare. He was born August 15, 1949 in Porterville, Ca. to Jesse Ray Welk, Sr. and Betty Lou Massie. His services will be held at First Pentecostal Church of God on Thursday May 22nd at 11:00am; visitation at Peters Funeral Home Wednesday evening 5-7pm. Ray was a beloved musician and gospel singer for many years. He married the love of his life, Joann Welk February 14, 1992. Together they formed gospel band, The Messengers, made up of family members and close friends. The band made two recordings during their 25 years of traveling. Amongst songs recorded were many he wrote, including his most loved, “We’ve Made It Home”. He was known for his quiet demeanor and unintentionally hilarious antics. Ray was a phenomenal musician and singer. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Joann Welk, his children: daughter, Cindy Welk and husband, Scott Lykins; daughter, Michelle McLarry and husband, Tony; daughter, Melissa Kirby and husband, Jed; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; his only son, Jesse Ray Welk III; sister, Belinda Tager and many loved ones.
