Funeral Services for Jerry Sellers, age 81, of Greenville will be held 1:00 P.M. on Friday, September 10th, 2021, at Peters Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 9th at Peters Funeral Home. Jerry Passed away on Sunday, September 5th, 2021.
Jerry was born November 24, 1939 in Crowell, Texas to Clyde and Edna Mae Sellers. He moved to Greenville, Texas in 1972 from Quanah, Texas, where he became a proud Greenville Firefighter. He served his community for 22 years. He also owned Sellers Dental Lab.
Jerry had many loves, including all things country, from the old red dirt in Foard County to the old westerns he watched on TV. He loved to fish, hunt with friends, and stalk the occasional squirrels in the front yard. Jerry loved football and the Cowboys, as long as they were winning. He was quick to turn them off when they weren’t listening to him. He loved a good cup of coffee and a good dirty joke. He loved VERY long lunches, or as he called it “dinner”, which confused us all. Jerry loved visiting on the phone or on his front porch with his neighbors for hours on end.
In his younger years, he was an amazing artist. He even illustrated the Crowell High School yearbook. He loved drawing westerns and entering them in the Hunt County Fair. He was a very good all around athlete. He exceeded expectations in high school when he was on the basketball court. Later in life, he thoroughly enjoyed a good game of golf. Jerry loved being outdoors, especially if it was warm. He also enjoyed going on ocean adventures to Mexico with friends, not only coming back with a tan, but usually injured.
He was without a doubt a cowboy through and through. The original Marlboro man who appreciated a pretty woman. But, most of all, this selfless, big-hearted, caring man, loved his family and did everything in his power to make sure they were okay.
He is survived by his daughters Kaila Sellers and Terry Sellers; granddaughter Kristal Patterson and husband Vince; grandson Taylor Glasgow and wife Emily; great grandchildren Kaileigh Swanson, Kenzleigh Wall, Gage Patterson, Grayson Patterson, Jaxon Glasgow, Weston Glasgow; and sister Evon Wruble.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Clyde M. Sellers and Edna Mae Sellers; stepfather Howard Ferguson; grandsons Jeremy Scott Glasgow and Jeremy Michael Glasgow; Mattie and Jim Russell, and many aunts, uncles and beloved friends.
