Herbert Wesley Owens, Sr., 62, passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 19, 2012 in Tyler Texas. Wesley was born to Herbert R. and Patsy L. Owens on February 13, 1950 in Odessa, Texas. Wesley would go on to serve his country with distinction in the United States Armed Forces as a Green Beret during the Vietnam Conflict. Wesley had a life-long love for motorcycles. He was elected President of the Lake Fork Chapter of the Mavericks Motorcycle Club and relished his time with the club and its members. He loved to play cards, riding his motorcycle and hanging out at the clubhouse with his friends and fellow bikers. Wesley was also a master craftsman and carpenter loved working with his hands. But his greatest passion was for his children and grandchildren. Wesley loved to spend time with his family. He will truly be missed. Wesley is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Patsy; his wife Kathy and his daughter Sandra. Those left to celebrate his life include his companion, Thelma Jo Sisk; his sons, Casy Kobelix and his wife Mandy and Wesley Owens, Jr.; his daughters, Shannon Honea and her husband Darrell, and Angie Reno and her husband Pete; grandchildren Brittany Early, Kourtney Honea, Elyzabeth Honea, Dalton Honea, Brayden Owens and Pailynn Kobelix; sisters, Vickie Lilly, Evelyn Smith and her husband Kenneth and Patricia Williams; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors. A gathering of friends and family will be held Wednesday, August 22, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Peters Funeral Home in Greenville, Texas. A funeral service will be held the following day on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow the service at Weiland Cemetery.
