Gary Shook, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on January 23, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. Born on September 9, 1944, in Marshall, Texas, Gary led a fulfilling life rich with love and laughter.

Gary found great joy and satisfaction in his career as a Manager in customer service. His dedication to his work was unparalleled, and he always went above and beyond to ensure the satisfaction of his customers. Gary's commitment to excellence earned him the respect and admiration of both his peers and those who had the pleasure of interacting with him.

Outside of work, Gary had a wide range of interests and hobbies that brought him immense happiness. He had an innate passion for fishing and would spend countless hours by the water, finding solace in the tranquility it provided. Additionally, Gary had a talent for music.

Gary also possessed remarkable craftsmanship skills. Whether it be fixing things around the house or working on cars in his garage, he had an uncanny ability to bring life back into objects that were once considered broken. His hands were not just tools; they were instruments of creativity and love.

When he wasn't occupied with his various interests, Gary could be found engaging others with his charismatic personality and infectious sense of humor. He loved to tell jokes that would make even the grumpiest person burst into laughter. His quick wit brightened many lives.

One cannot speak about Gary without mentioning his green thumb. Gardening was one of his greatest passions – watching vegtables bloom under his care brought him immense joy. The vibrant colors that filled his garden mirrored the light he radiated into the lives of those around him.

Above all else, family meant everything to Gary. He was a devoted husband to Linda Shook, his loving wife of 58 years. Their marriage, which began on July 10, 1965, served as a shining example of unwavering commitment and love. Together, they built a life filled with cherished memories and unwavering support for one another.

Gary's children, Gary Bryan Shook;  Stacey Shook Altom; and daugheter in law Teresa Shook, were the pride and joy of his life. He cherished every moment spent with them, always providing guidance and love along their respective journeys. Jay Altom, Gary's son-in-law, held a special place in his heart as well. They shared many memories together and formed a deep bond built on mutual respect.

As a doting grandfather, Gary found immense delight in the presence of Carleigh Altom Adams, Stephen Adams, Wheldon Altom, Haley Altom, Nicolas Bryan Shook, Jude Adams,  Their smiles warmed his heart and brought him immense joy. He leaves behind a lasting legacy in each of their lives.

Gary was deeply loved by his surviving family members and friends who find solace in knowing that he touched their lives in immeasurable ways. Among those who mourn Gary's passing are his brother in law; Tommy Lawrence, sister in law; Edith Jane Shook; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Frederick J Shook and Mary Thelma Shook, his twin brother; Larry Alden Shook, Sister in law; Diane Shook; ,Fred Jack Shook and sister, Lilly Ann Shook Lawrence.

The memories created with Gary will never be forgotten. His warm smile, infectious laughter, and compassionate nature will continue to live on in the hearts of all those fortunate enough to have known him.

The impact he had on each person he encountered is immeasurable – he will always be remembered as an incredible individual who touched countless lives with love and kindness. In this difficult time of loss, may we find solace in the memories we shared with Gary and find comfort in the love and support of one another. Rest in peace, dear friend.
