Earnest Poplin

d. September 12, 2015

Earnest Mack Poplin, 68, passed away on Saturday, September 12,2015 at his residence surrounded by his family. Earnest was born to Alfred and Claudine Poplin in Redding, California. Earnest got his Associate's degree in Business Management and went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Navy. Earnest married Evelyn Sizemore on May 28, 1966 in Springdale, Arkansas. They would have three sons; Johnny, Brian and Jason. Earnest would own and operate Poplin Painting for over 38 years before retiring. Earnest loved his work. He enjoyed "doing" for others. Whether in his work; serving as a deacon at his church; or growing a huge vegetable garden and giving the produce away - Earnest had a giving heart and a servant's spirit. Serving others was Earnest way of serving his Lord and Creator. Earnest was a member of the Grace Fellowship Church in Farmersville for over twenty years. Earnest loved the outdoors. Whether hunting, fishing or just working in his garden; Earnest was always happy and contented. But Earnest's greatest passion was for his family. He loved spending time with his wife, sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Earnest's open heart and giving spirit will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. Earnest is preceded in death by his father, Alfred Poplin; brother, Wayne Poplin; sister Sharon Reynolds. Those left to cherish his memory include Evelyn Poplin, his wife of forty-nine years; sons Johnny Poplin (Diana), Brian Poplin and Jason Poplin (Tammy); grandchildren, Briana, Jason, Jr., Ashley, Jessica and Jacob; great-grandchildren, Kacen, Paris and Levi; mother, Claudine Poplin; brothers, Jim Poplin (Carolyn), Harvey Poplin (Linda) and Tommy Poplin (Karen); as well as numerous extended family, friends and neighbors. No public services are scheduled at this time. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Peters Funeral Home, 4201 Wellington, Greenville.
