Douglas Lee Redden

Douglas Lee Redden, age 87 of Princeton, Texas passed away February 4, 2023 at home on the farm. Surrounded by his family. A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2023 from 6-8 pm at Peters Funeral Home, Greenville, TX. He will be laid to rest with a Graveside service on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 11 am at the Princeton Cemetery.

 

Doug was born in Princeton, TX at the home of his grandmother on November 28, 1935. He was the first child of Ephriam (Eaf) Redden and Cora Lou West Redden. He grew up in Princeton on a farm, helping his father with crops and livestock. He met his wife, Margaret Ann Hall, through friends. They were married on August 11, 1957 and were blessed with 5 children.

 

Doug followed his fathers’ footsteps and lived his life as a blackland farmer and livestock rancher in the Princeton/Collin County area. He was a life long member of the First Christian Church of Princeton. In 2019 he was awarded Certificate of Honorary Elder as the oldest living member. He enjoyed working hard from sun up to sun down.

 

Doug was survived by his wife Ann of 65 years and their children, Leeann Mehmen (Jerry) of Yantis, TX, Kay Lynn Douglas (Mark) of Princeton, TX, Ronnie Redden, Princeton, TX, and Vikki Barrett (Bryan) of Midland, TX; Granchildren, Eaf Redden (Shelby) of Mound, OK, Ethan Redden (Brooke) of Melissa, TX, Cindy Velasquez (Greg) of San Diego, CA, Jeriann Majszak (Jon) of Grand Ledge, MI, Justin Douglas (Kristi) of McKinney, TX, Jennifer Adams (Brandon) of Farmersville, TX, Randi Minor (Charlie) of Tom Bean, TX, Kaleb Kidd (Kaley) of Ledbetter, KY, and Bailee Carpenter, Van Alstyne, TX; 24 Great Grandchildren; Sister, Betty Redden Gray of Tyler, TX; numerous nieces and nephews and his 4 legged companion, Jessie.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Terry Redden; grandsons, Jake Mehmen and Joel Douglas.

 

Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons; Eaf, Ethan, Justin, Kaleb, Jon, and Brandon.
