Doris Evelyn Jenkins

Doris Fite Jenkins, age 84, passed away on August 7, 2022, at Carriage House Manor in Sulphur Springs, Texas. She was the wife of James Jenkins. They shared 51 years of marriage.

She was born to Jim and Sadie Fite. She was employed at H. D. Lee Company, Woodhaven Nursing Home, and Carriage House Manor. She enjoyed years of keeping her grandchildren before and, even more so, after she retired. She and her husband spent many seasons growing enough produce to supply half the county and sold it on the honor system at “Pepaw’s Produce and Memaw’s Problems”.

She was a member at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church where she was known by many people as Memaw. She will be forever remembered for her big smile, her love of family and all those she included as family, her love of ice cream, her beautiful yard, and her Fite temper if you made her too mad.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, sisters, her husband, James, daughter, Kathy Jenkins and son Randy Jenkins.

She is survived by her daughter Sharon Jenkins and wife Kathy Nichols; her daughter Randa Gaddis and husband Donny; daughters-in-law Vickie Jenkins and Holly Lindfors.  She is survived by her grandchildren:  Angela Blanchard and husband Jason, Jennifer Gaddy and husband Ben, Jennifer White and husband Chuck, Nathan Gaddis and wife Candace, Jonathan Gaddis and wife Katie, and Brooke Walker and husband Colton. She is also survived by 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to the staff at Carriage House Manor and to Choice Hospice for their loving and excellent care.

A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, August 13, at 3:00 P.M at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church. Visitation will be held at St. Philip’s Parish Hall at 2 p.m. preceding the service.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to the St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, P.O. 636, Sulphur Springs, Texas, 75483
