Donald Turner

Donald Hugh Turner, of Quinlan, Texas, age 80, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, November 20, 2011. Don was born in Greenville, TX, in 1930 to John David and Rebecca Julia Turner. He and his older brother, John Edgar Turner, attended school in Greenville. Don was employed in sales with Austin Shoe Stores in Waco, Ft. Worth, and Texarkana; followed by many years in sales and management at Tanenbaums Womens Boutique in Greenville. He traveled many states in the south and Southeast representing Shirey Manufacturing Company, Henson-Kickernick, and The Lee Company. This was followed by a second sales career with Dillards and Fun Equipment Sales in San Antonio, TX. Don was a member of various associations related to his sales career and was awarded on several occasions for his outstanding sales performances. Don served his country in The United States Air Force Reserves, from December 1948 until December 1949. He completed his term of active duty, at Camp LeRoy, New Orleans, Louisiana, as a Corporal. While living in San Antonio, he served on The City of San Antonio Target/90 Planning Group, Friends of Rebuilding Together, and the Alzheimers Association. Don is preceded in death by his parents: John David and Rebecca Julia Turner and his brother John Edgar Turner. He will be forever loved and remembered by Patricia Turner, by Peggy Kite and their three children and their families: Donna Patterson and husband Stan of Greenville, Mike Turner and wife Vanessa of San Antonio, and Patrick Turner and wife Denise of Quinlan, TX. Don also leaves six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one God child, numerous nieces, and nephews, and extended family who adored him, and many friends. Don held an incredible passion for his family, and his capacity for caring extended to his many friends. He was greatly loved and will be missed by all. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 1 at 1:00 p.m. at Vansickle Baptist Church in Cash, under the direction of Quinlan Funeral Home, with Rev. Roger Ratliff officiating. Burial will follow at Eubanks Funeral Home in Canton, TX. Please consider a donation to the American Heart Association, instead of flowers.
