Curtis Butcher

Curtis Butcher, beloved brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, in Pittsburg, Texas. Born on May 8, 1964, Curtis lived a life filled with passion, curiosity, and deep love for his family.

Throughout his life, he was known for his profound appreciation of literature, particularly his love for sci-fi novels. He took great joy in reading and often delighted those around him by discussing the books he consumed and the knowledge he acquired from them. His thirst for understanding and his ability to engage others in conversations about his readings were hallmarks of his warm personality, fostering connections with friends and family alike.

Curtis proudly completed high school, a testament to his determination and dedication to lifelong learning. However, his greatest accomplishment was undoubtedly the love and happiness he found in the company of his family. Spending time with them brought him immense joy, and he cherished every moment shared with his siblings, nieces, and nephews. Those precious memories of laughter, stories, and spirited conversations will remain etched in their hearts forever.

He is lovingly remembered by his sister, Maxine Patton; his brother, James Butcher; and a host of nieces and nephews who looked up to him. Among them are Joanna Fouse, Beverly Gibson, Sheri Simpson and husband Michael, Danielle Clawson and husband Mike, Timothy Clawson and wife Sara, Levi Clawson, Ryan Gibson, Matthew Gibson, William Simpson and wife Vallarie, David Simpson and wife Ashley, August Garner, Korey Simpson, and Kennady Simpson. Each one holds a special place in their hearts for Curtis, whose kindness and love shaped their lives in profound ways.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Butcher and Mary Pauline Hansard, along with his niece, Michelle Scott. Their absence leaves a void that his family will carry, but through their shared memories and stories, Curtis's spirit will continue to resonate within the lives he touched.

As they celebrate his life, the family finds comfort in knowing that Curtis is at peace and reunited with his loved ones.
