Cassie Marie Gunn was born on September 16, 1966, in Sulphur Springs, Texas, to Billy and Anna Martin. She passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
Cassie grew up in Northeast Texas and graduated from high school in Commerce, Texas. She went on to earn her Associate’s Degree in HVAC from Kilgore College. In her professional life, Cassie was known for her dedication, often working long hours of overtime and always taking pride in a job well done.
She was strong, fierce, independent, and full of heart. Cassie was caring, funny, and well known for being “hard-headed” in the best way. Her bold personality was matched by a deep love for her family and an unwavering Christian faith. She loved her Jesus and lived her life with purpose and devotion.
Some of her favorite memories included family dinners, vacations, and trips to the casino. Unlike most, she genuinely loved going to work, finding fulfillment in her efforts and pride in her accomplishments.
Cassie’s proudest role in life was being a mother and grandmother. She was endlessly proud of her three beautiful daughters and five wonderful grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and purpose.
She is survived by her loving husband, James Calhoun; her daughters: Tatiana Ugalde, Dionna Bassham and husband Ross Bassham, Brianna Davis, and Anna Ugalde; Her son Kevin Ugalde and her grandchildren: Tristin Bassham, Deliah Bassham, and Cohen Sparks.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Martin; her father, Billy Martin; her brother, Dwight Martin; her grandmothers, Oleta Kimbrell and Stella Martin; her grandfathers, Bill Kimbrell and Hurl Martin; her aunt, Carol Hilburn; her uncle, Galen Kimbrell; and many cherished cousins.
Cassie leaves behind a legacy of strength, love, and laughter. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
