Billy Gene Brignon

Billy Gene Brignon, born on March 7, 1942, in Wolfe City, Texas, passed away on June 9, 2025, in Princeton, Texas. A dedicated professional, Billy spent many years as a meat cutter and butcher for Safeway and Brookshires, earning respect and admiration from colleagues and customers alike.

Billy was a proud graduate of Greenville High School and was known for his affable personality, never meeting a stranger and always willing to lend a helping hand. He devoted many years to coaching little league baseball, sharing his love of the game with young athletes in the community. Billy's truck was a treasure trove of supplies; he had a knack for being prepared for anything and was always ready to assist others.

Reflecting on his life, his family recalls cherished memories of fishing trips where he would delight in keeping them out of school in the spring for days filled with fun and adventure. One humorous memory that stands out is his ability to always find trouble; notably, he once managed to catch a truck on fire while out in a pasture.

Billy's passions included fishing, hunting, and farming. He had a deep love for the Dallas Cowboys and enjoyed watching western movies, particularly those featuring his hero, John Wayne. His happiest moments were spent at his son’s property, working, fishing, and laughing with his son, Rob, his grandson, Chasen, and his granddaughter, Chelsea, as well as his great-grandsons, Landen and Casen.

Among his proudest accomplishments was winning a Bass Tournament alongside his brother, Homer Ray, and proudly owning his property where he raised his children. The values he instilled in his family will continue to resonate through generations.

Billy is survived by his son, Rob Brignon; daughter, Rhonda Lambe; son-in-law, Randy Lambe; grandson, Chasen Lambe; granddaughter, Chelsea Lambe; and great-grandsons, Landen and Casen Lambe.

His legacy of kindness, adventure, and family devotion remains a guiding light for those who had the privilege of knowing him. Billy Gene Brignon will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
