Billie Joe ("B.J.") Hardin, 84, was born January 22, 1924 in Royce City, TX. He passed into the arms of his Savior on December 7, 2008, at his home in Greenville, TX. B.J. proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and fought at Okinawa. Upon returning from the war, he married Frances Marie Brown, who preceded him in death in 1977. He later wed Betty Lou Jones, and they shared 30 years together. Billie worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Dallas for 42 years before retiring in 1988. He and Betty built their dream home in Greenville and traveled the world over the next 20 years. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Billie Joe was a faithful member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church and taught mens Sunday school class up until three weeks ago. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #705 in Dallas for over 50 years. B.J. is survived by his wife Betty, daughter Jan Taylor and husband Leo of Leonard, daughter Sharon Taylor and husband Robert of McKinney, four granddaughters, Christina Mize and husband Randy of Rockwall, Jennifer Hay and husband Rodney of Anna, Diedra Roller and fianc Bryan Williams of Round Rock, and Janette Taylor, who is currently serving in the United States Army in Iraq, and three great-grandchildren, Joshua Mize of Rockwall, Bailey Roller of Round Rock, and Katelyn Hay of Anna. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, daughter Sandy Davis, son-in-law Dan Davis, and sister, Helen Sue Thurman. Services will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2008, at 10:00 A.M. at Highland Terrace Baptist Church of Greenville. Burial will follow at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas at 2:00 P.M. Visitation will be held on Tuesday night from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Peter's Funeral Home in Greenville, TX. Memorials may be made to the Dan and Sandy Davis Memorial Scholarship Fund care of Greenville Christian School.
