Bette Jean Bowers

July 1, 1936 — September 19, 2025

Bette Jean Bowers, born July 1, 1936, in Aberdeen, Mississippi to KV and Era Kirkpatrick, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2025.

Bette was a proud graduate of Lancaster High School, Class of 1954, in Lancaster, Texas. She was known for always having a smile on her face, her gracious spirit, and her deep love for both people and animals. Family was at the very heart of her life, and she dedicated herself to making sure her children had everything they needed.

One of Bette’s proudest and most cherished moments was when she met and married the love of her life, Kenneth “Bobo” Bowers. Together, they built a home in Merit, Texas, where they enjoyed countless nights by the fire, roasting hot dogs and sitting under the stars, grateful for each other’s company. Their devotion to one another was a shining example of lasting love.

Bette’s hobbies reflected her joy in life and her creativity. She loved square dancing, fishing, gardening, sewing, and—most of all—spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son, Steven Patterson and wife Karen of West Virginia; daughter, Lisa Patterson of Holly Lake Ranch, Texas; grandson, Patrick Neagle and wife Jamie of Brashear, Texas; granddaughter, Holly Neagle of Quinlan, Texas; great-granddaughters, Alissa Neagle and Chloe Neagle; great-grandsons, David Rutherford, Korbin Moon, and Grayson Torrance; along with numerous cousins from Texas and Mississippi.

Bette is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Bowers; her parents, KV and Era Kirkpatrick; and her brother, Dudley Kirkpatrick.

Bette’s legacy is one of love, devotion, and joy. She will be remembered for her gracious heart, her radiant smile, and the countless ways she touched the lives of those around her.
