Bethalyne Lyon

Bethalyne Lyon, 88, of Celeste passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at her home. Bethalyne was born on November 25, 1930 to Leta Aven and Omer “Bun” Lyday. She married Johnnie H. Lyon August 26, 1950. She was a long-time member of Celeste United Methodist Church and taught young adults Sunday School class, a member of U.M.W. and active in all church activities, member of the Celeste Thursday Club and Coffee Club. Bethalyne was very active in school and community projects. Her first love was her family. Other interests were cooking, reading, gardening, fishing, and water skiing, riding her 4-wheeler, sewing and crafts, music, video games, and wildlife.

Those left to cherish her memory are husband, Johnnie Lyon; sons, Ronnie Lyon and wife, Paula, Gary Lyon and wife, Ginger; grandchildren, Kristi Ross and husband, Jon, Karen Goodwin and husband, Tre, Kevin Lyon, Jared Lyon, Jeremy Lyon and wife, Kirstin; great- grandchildren, Emmalyn Ross, Jonah Ross, Henley Goodwin, Bralee Goodwin, Mavery Goodwin; sister, Patsy Norris; brothers, Bobby Lyday and wife, Evaughn, Richard Lyday and wife, Beverly, and Larry Lyday and wife, Ruth; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Gilford, Francis, and Harold Lyday.

A Funeral service will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday February 16 at The United Methodist Church of Celeste. A burial will follow at Hogeye Cemetery with Jared Lyon, Kevin Lyon, Steven Lyday, Duane Lyday, Charles Norris, and Terry Hicks serving as pallbearers. A visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday February 15, 2019 at Peters Funeral Home.
