Arvil Thomas

Arvil J. Thomas, age 82, of Greenville, passed in the afternoon hours of Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at the Hunt Regional Medical Center at Greenville. Mr. Thomas was born on November 15, 1926 in Delta County, Texas to John Richard and Martha Minerva Thomas, they precede him in death. Arvil was proud of his service in the United States Army where he retired after more than 20 years. He was also a dedicated family man member of the Park Street Baptist Church and will be missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his wife, Betty Thomas of Greenville; children, Ronnie Thomas, Cindy Lair and Carol Burton, all of Greenville; nephews, Gerald and Johnny Thomas of Cooper; grandchildren, Nicole Zolna, Amanda Ketron, Emily Weber, and Kyle Burton; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Shane Lair, and three brothers and four sisters. Services for Arvil J. Thomas will be held at 11 A.M., Friday, August 21, 2009 at Peters Funeral Home with Pastor Johnny Hailes officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Grove Cemetery in Telephone. Visitation will be from 6 " 8 Thursday evening at the funeral home.
