Arthur Lee Buster Southard, 98, passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2012 in Cedar Hill, Texas. Buster was born on May 25, 1914 to Bill and Quincy Southard in Anna, Texas. Buster served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Navy for nineteen years. He served during World War II in the Pacific Theater of Operations in the Philippines, Okinawa and Japan. Buster retired from the Navy and continuing his work as a metal smith in the private sector. His name is included on the World War II Honor Roll at the Hunt County Courthouse. Buster is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Quincy and four brothers. Those left to celebrate his life include his wife, Rosemarie; his daughter, Victory Gaffin; granddaughter, Pattie McKerchie and her husband Duane and Laura Smith and her husband Jeff; his brother, Fred Southard; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. A gathering of friends and family and a time of remembrance will be held on Friday, October 12, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Busters memory to a charity of your choice.
