Antonio “Tony” Reyes, 83, of Greenville, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on July 8, 2025. Born on September 8, 1941, in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico, Tony was a hardworking man who deeply loved his family and spent his life serving others.
In 1964, alongside his mother and two brothers, Tony was the original co-owner of El Charro, a family restaurant that became a beloved part of the Sulphur Springs community. For over 50 years, he dedicated himself to his work, earning the respect and admiration of countless friends, patrons, and neighbors.
Tony had a passion for restoring old cars and trucks, and he found joy in hunting, fishing, and spending time with those he loved. He was married to Marylan Reyes for over 61 years—a partnership marked by deep devotion and shared strength.
He is survived by his children: Richard Reyes, Lance Reyes, Anna Reyes, and Christina Reyes; grandchildren: Austin Etheridge, Levi Reyes, Roman Reyes, Archie Rowland, Jonah East, Bubbie Huffman, Morgan Hicks-Lovett, Arabela Rowland, Marilena Reyes, Lyndi Butler, Tory Pryor, Haylee London, Ashley Huffman, and Nantzi Huffman; nieces: Selena Reyes, Charmaina Bowers; nephews: Billy Ottwell, Jeff Ottwell, Chris Reyes, Shane Infante, and Chris Infante; and many great-nieces and nephews including Krystal, Jacob, Marissa, Lisa, Diego, Kolton, Raef, Travis, and Kattie.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marylan Reyes; his mother, Candelaria “Connie” Reyes; brothers Albino Reyes and Ruben Reyes; daughter Shannon Reyes Rowland; and niece Melinda Reyes.
Tony’s legacy is one of love, generosity, and resilience. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
