Ann Hamilton Pippin was born on July 24, 1936 in Saint Louis, and spent most of her childhood in Missouri. Her parents were Earle and Kate Arnold Hamilton, who had lived in Greenville, Texas before her birth, and they moved back to the town when she was a teenager. She graduated from Greenville High School in 1954.

Ann earned a bachelor’s, and later an M.S. in Library Science, from East Texas State in Commerce, and worked for years in various cities as a schoolteacher and as a librarian. In 1973, she married Bobby Ray Pippin, and had a son.

Ann was a talented pianist, and for many years she taught piano. She sang for decades in the choir of Wesley Methodist Church, and helped to establish a Greenville chapter of the Sweet Adelines barbershop-style group.

She was also a fan of mystery novels, and eventually wrote a detective novel herself, Into Thin Air, published in 2023.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Nancy Bliss; her brother, E.G. Hamilton; and her niece, Sarah Hamilton.
