Albert Newhouse

Albert Edward Newhouse, age 83, of Greenville, passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Briarcliff Nursing Home in Greenville. He was born on July 10, 1926 in Hawaii to Edward Charles and Thelma Rodrigues Newhouse, they preceded him in death. Albert joined the military serving for both the United States Marines and eventually retiring from the Air Force as Chief Master Sargent. He saw combat in WWII and was at the Battle of Iwo Jima. Albert married Mary Micki Hayward in Stoneham, Canada on May 19, 1949. Together they raised a family and created a lifetime of memories. She preceded Albert in death on December 23, 2004 after 55 years of marriage. After his career in the military Mr. Newhouse went to work and eventually retired from the Aviall Company in Dallas. Albert was an active member Salem Kinser Methodist Church and the Shriners, Masons, and Eastern Star organizations. In their free time he and Micki enjoyed traveling the United States and Canada. Mr. Newhouse is survived by two daughters, Linda Eure, and husband Jim, and Denise Turner, and husband Pat, both of Quinlan; grandchildren, Alex and Justin Eure and Samuel and Nathaniel Turner; one sister, Lorraine Layton of Delaware; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Robert Neuhaus. A memorial service for Mr. Newhouse will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Peters Funeral Home with Bill Shaddox officiating. Following the service the family will be providing lunch during a time of fellowship and remembrance of Mr. Newhouse at the funeral home.
